MWCA is Participating Amplify Austin!

The Mindful Wellness Center of Austin (MWCA) is excited to participate in Amplify Austin this year, March 2-3, 2022. Amplify Austin is the biggest fundraising event of the year for Central Texas non-profits.

Through donations and matching gifts, people come together to support Central Texas non-profit organizations that they are passionate about and that make Central Texas a better place to live for all of us.

This year MWCA is eligible for two matching funds this year: $20,000 matching fund for small/medium non-profits thanks to thanks to Expedia Group, Reissa Foundation, K Friese + Associates, and Woollard Nichols & Associates and a $25,000 Healthcare & Wellness matching fund provided by Curative for organizations serving in the healthcare & wellness cause category.

We hope our fundraising efforts during Amplify Austin will help us secure matching funds so that we can continue to deliver mindful and holistic mental health services to Central Austin residents.

MWCA Mission

The Mindful Wellness Center of Austin was founded with the intention to make holistic and mindfulness-based wellness services affordable and accessible. We are driven to bring these services to those within the Austin community who have historically been priced out from working with practitioners who see the whole person, not just a diagnostic label that requires pharmaceuticals.

In the words of Jon Kabat-Zinn, mindfulness is “the awareness that arises through paying attention on purpose in the present moment and non-judgmentally in the service of self-understanding and wisdom.”

Mindfulness is incredibly effective for helping people with emotional regulation, physical health, relationships, stress, and anxiety. In a recent meta-analysis of 400 studies, mindfulness was proven to be an effective intervention for almost all people’s physical and psychological well-being.

Current Needs of the Community

MWCA is dedicated to supporting the needs of the community. At this point in the pandemic when many are dealing with high levels of isolation, stress, and anxiety MWCA is grateful to be able to offer in-person individual therapy. MWCA is an inclusive community, currently offering low-cost, sliding-scale individual therapy and mindfulness groups to those in the community who do not otherwise have access to these services.

We current self-fund our services and rely on compassionate volunteers to fill necessary back-office administrative and leadership roles. Additional funding through fundraising would help us to continue to keep the lights on and provide quality, low-cost counseling as we struggle to keep up with rising costs while not raising our rates.

Your donations will help us:

  • Add more counselors so we can help more people feel heard, seen and supported

  • Secure grants that could allow us to hire at least one administrator or executive director to ensure our organization builds a solid foundation within the Central Texas community

  • Expand our scope by offering subsidized services of other practitioners including functional nutrition, acupuncture, chiropractic and other modalities that the community may not have access to otherwise.
